If you want an in-depth look at the most popular landmarks and historical sites in Rome and are looking for a whole day trip, then the ‘Best of Rome’ tour is ideal for you. At the beginning of the tour, your Welcome driver will pick you up directly from your chosen accommodation, and take you on your tailor-made journey through the most iconic, historically significant and beautiful sites in Rome. Although your tour is completely customizable, and points of interest can be added or taken away, the following itinerary is one we suggest to use as a base. You will start your tour in the ancient area of Rome, where you will be dazzled by the rich history and exquisite architecture. At this stop, you will find the Roman Forum, the Circus Maximus, an ancient Roman chariot racing stadium, the Palace of the Emperor, and last but not least, the awe-striking and magnificent Colosseum. You will then travel up the ‘Road of Temples’ to the vibrant central hub of the city, the Piazza Venezzia, and into the religious heart of Rome. At this stop you will have the chance to explore the Pantheon, one of the most famous and well-preserved ancient buildings in the world, and the Trevi Fountain, where you can reenact your favorite scene from La Dolce Vita, or simply throw a coin into the fountain to ensure a second trip to the eternal city. Piazza Navona is also worth a visit whilst in this area, as it is the perfect place to soak up some of the cultures, take photos by the Fountain of The Four Rivers and sample some of the best gelato in town. Once you are halfway through your tour, we suggest stopping for an authentic Italian lunch break, to rest your feet and stock up on energy for the rest of the afternoon. Your welcome driver will happily give you his recommendations on the best local cuisine, however, if you have your eye on a specific place, your driver will happily take you there. After a delicious and refreshing lunch break, you will have the chance to visit some of Rome’s less touristic sites, the places that make the Eternal City so unique. Ask your driver to take you to the Gianicolo Hill for breathtaking views of the city, pay a visit to Michelangelo’s Moses sculpture, located in the beautiful little church of San Pietro, walk around the Piazza di Malta, or visit the ancient Apian Way and fascinating Catacombs. If you have more than one day to explore Rome, then we suggest that you to exclude St Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican from this tour, to maximize the time available for other points of interest. We recommend finishing up your tour with a stop at the Spanish Steps, one of Rome’s most popular tourist attractions, boasting the most beautiful views of the city. Climb the 138 steps and take full advantage of the once-in-a-lifetime photo opportunities, before returning to your private Welcome car, and being dropped back off at your accommodation.
