Versailles question that is really a money question. Two of us, five nights in Paris, timed entry for the palace at 9.30 on Saturday. The RER C is under 5 EUR each and takes about forty minutes from Saint Michel. A private two way transfer is quoting us around 180 EUR for the pair. So the gap is roughly 170 EUR, which in this city is two very good dinners, and I need somebody to tell me what the 170 actually buys. The bit I keep circling is the return. We will be finished with the gardens around five and my partner's back gives out after a full day upright. Is the queue for the train back on a Saturday evening genuinely bad in April, or is that a July problem? The fountains are running that day, which I assume means the whole estate walks to the same platform at the same moment. For the avoidance of doubt, we have already gone over on the hotel because I wanted the room with the balcony, so I am arguing from a weak position here.
