I am in Nice since Sunday and the lavender day was booked in my head for Saturday. The woman at the hotel desk says the fields are cut already, three weeks ago even. I have looked at two webcams near Valensole for maybe an hour in total and I still cannot say what I am seeing. Brown, I think. It could also be my phone screen. The Verdon part is the actual reason I wanted this. That water colour is why I saved for the trip in the first place. So does the day still work with the fields finished, or am I paying for five hours in a car to look at stubble? The quotes I have are 420 to 500 EUR for a private car with driver. I do not drive, so it is that or it is nothing, and 500 EUR is a lot for me to get wrong. One thing more, and I know I have asked a version of this before about somewhere else. Five hours at the lake while I am off walking about. Does the driver wait in the car or go and eat somewhere. I cannot picture it and that is apparently enough to stop me booking.
