I fly into Mexico City on the 2nd of June, terminal 1, landing at 21:40, alone. I have now read perhaps forty pages about arriving at that airport and I am in a worse condition than when I started. What I believe I understand. Inside there are official taxi counters where you pay first and are given a ticket. The other way is to arrange a driver in advance who waits with a sign. For the run to Roma Norte the difference between them looks like 300 to 500 pesos, which is not nothing for me, though it is also not the thing that decides it. My questions are these. At that hour, is the arrivals hall calm or is it full? And how long is realistic from the aircraft door to sitting in a car, with a European passport and one checked bag? The one that actually keeps me awake is smaller than both. Does a prearranged driver reliably find you, or do the two of you stand looking past each other for twenty minutes in a hall with four exits? I am aware that I am overthinking. I have three weeks in which to overthink it, so better here than at 21:40 in June. One more thing. I have seen a welcome arrangement that puts the airport pickup together with a few hours around the city the next morning. Do people genuinely do this, or is it two things sold as one?
