We land at El Prat at 13.40 with a five year old who will have been awake since 4am, and the flat in Gracia is not ours until 4pm. Somebody suggested one of the airport pickups that loops round the city on the way in, so those two dead hours become something other than the three of us sat on a suitcase in a stairwell. My worry is that a tired child belted into a car in August is a worse problem than a tired child in a cafe with something cold. What I actually want to know from anyone who has done it with a small one. Does the driver stop and let you out, or is it a drive past things with the windows up? And is there a toilet at any of the stops. That is not a thing you improvise with a five year old.
