Basic question that everyone else seems to already know the answer to. My mum wants to go with her sister, two women in their sixties, no man with them, flying out of Nairobi in November. Is that genuinely fine now, and do they need somebody local to invite them or is it a visa they apply for themselves? Every person I ask has an opinion that sounds like it is from about 2015 and I cannot work out what is current.
Yasmin Haddadnext dayTourist e-visa, applied for online by themselves, and that has been the case since 2019. The form takes about ten minutes. Two sisters travelling together is completely ordinary and nobody at the airport or the hotel will ask them a thing about it. The rule people half remember was about Saudi women's own paperwork. It has changed a great deal since anyway, and it never applied to visitors. One thing that is still true. Some older restaurants and a few hotel breakfast rooms keep a family section separate from the singles section, and your mother and her sister would be seated in the family one, which is usually the quieter room. Not a problem, just so it is not a surprise on the first morning. November is a good choice. By the middle of May Riyadh is 40 by noon.
