Leave Barcelona bright and early, and see the best historical sites and most popular landmarks of France, Spain, and Andorra. Although every aspect of your tour is customizable, the following itinerary is one we suggest. From Barcelona, your friendly driver will take you directly to the historical town of Baga, Spain, arriving at 8:30. In this medieval town, you will have the opportunity to visit the amazing St. Esteve de Bagà church and walk around the Plaça Porxada, the town’s central square, built in the 13th-century. Here you can also gaze upon the stunning mountains of the surrounding Casi-Moixero, and take some fabulous Spanish photographs. Just a short journey over the border into France and you will arrive in the walled town of Mont Louis. Take advantage of the traditional croissants, Pain de chocolate, and cafe au lait, while enjoying a delicious French breakfast. In Mont-Luis you will find the impressive fortified Citadel, designed by Vauban and now classed as a protected UNESCO World Heritage Site. Whilst in this area, visit the world’s first-ever solar furnace, built by the innovative engineer Felix Trombe in 1949. Leaving Mount-Luis at 11:00, you will then make your way along the Pyrenees, a mountain range running through the middle of Spain and France until you reach Andorra at its centre. Your next stop will be the capital, Andorra La Vella. One of the most beautiful churches in this city is the Església de Sant Esteve, a 12th-century heritage property located in the Plaça del Príncep Benlloch square. Take your time and enjoy the historic architecture and old houses of La Vella before stopping for a traditional Andorran lunch. Ask your driver for restaurant recommendations, or simply pop into one you see on your walk. After a delicious lunch, you will then have some free time to explore the duty-free shops in Andorra and find the perfect souvenirs for those back home. If you prefer a bit more history, then you can travel alongside the Madriu River to the Romanesque church of St. Miguel d’Engolasters instead. At 16:00, your friendly driver will take you back across the border into Spain, for a quick stop at Coll de Nargó. Here you can admire the beautiful Romanesque church of San Clemente, dating back to the 11th-century, and enjoy breathtaking views of the Segre valley. Have a relaxing afternoon drink as the sun begins to lower in the sky, before continuing your journey back to Barcelona. Then you can also visit an attractive mountain town well known as a spa destination and also popular in the summer as a base for walking and other outdoor activities in the village of Ax Les Thermes. You will arrive in Barcelona at around 19:00, just in time to enjoy an evening of Spanish wine and tapas.
