This is the question I keep not asking. Do you need to be a strong swimmer for this? I can swim in a pool. I have never been in water where I cannot see the bottom and I do not know whether that matters here.

It is a fair question. You do not need to be strong. Ask for a vest at the time of booking so they bring your size, and say you are not confident, the crew will keep you near the boat. My cousin swims like a bag of bricks and she did Mnemba holding a float ring the whole time and came out grinning. Most of what you look at there is shallow water over sand. You are not hanging over an abyss.

We did the shared version out of Nungwi in June for roughly a third of the price and it was the same reef and the same sandbank. For two people the sums on a private boat are hard to make work. If you are four, it flips completely and we would do that.
