Before I get my hopes up. Is the volcano part something you walk up, or do you look at it from the far side of the valley? Every photograph looks identical to me and I would rather find that out now than in a car park at nine in the morning.
Jonas Viksame dayTwo different days share the name, which is where the confusion comes from. The sunrise climb starts around two in the morning and takes roughly two hours to the rim. The day trip looks across the caldera from Kintamani and involves no climbing at all. I did the climb three years ago and my knees complained for a week afterwards, and I would go again. If you only want to see the mountain, the viewpoint sees the same mountain.
Danny Colenext dayIf you are counting every rupiah, a scooter from Ubud up to Kintamani is about ninety minutes and the petrol is almost nothing. I would not do that road in the dark in your first week though. I came back down after sunset and my hands were still shaking at the bottom.
